We are pleased to announce that staff at Sugar Ridge have recently completed training through the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) as part of their dedication to providing exceptional service.
Four of Sugar Ridge’s staff are now Certified Hospitality Supervisors, including: Jolie Watkins (Front Office and Reservations Manager), Ava Mason (HR Manager and Hotel Administrator), Fiona Michael (Spa Supervisor), and Yvette Martin (Guest Relations Officer). Certification from the AHLEI “is the ultimate distinction of professional excellence for the hospitality industry.”
Taught by a certified AHLEI instructor, the participants completed foundational training in the pursuit of further professional development within their specific field. Sugar Ridge aims to certify all employees, whether that be in maintenance, housekeeping, front desk, management, or other, to ensure the same hospitality standards are held throughout the entire property.
Sugar Ridge is the only resort property on Antigua to hold this many certified hospitality professionals through the AHLEI. Ava Mason, HR Manager and Head Administrator, says,
“[Sugar Ridge is] positioning [itself] in the industry as an employer of choice. We are willing to invest in our team members so that we can continue to evolve with the industry. Not only does the training create growth and development within Sugar Ridge so we attract guests, but it also equips our employees with an American certification that can be used and applied elsewhere.”
Another group of employees at Sugar Ridge will be embarking on certifications through the AHLEI at the end of the month, with training continuing until all staff are certified.
